How to Play Cut a Rock (Roblox): Beginner Route
Cut a Rock is a Roblox incremental game by Duality Works, not a tutorial for cutting a real stone. You mine a rock, carry it home, cut it open, sell the material, and buy a stronger pickaxe.
The first half hour, Copper first
AllThingsHow’s November 4 starter guide is the only page that writes a timed opening. Sportskeeda confirms Stone at 20x and Copper at 3,000 cash for 150x; AllThingsHow additionally lists the 70 Robux option. I follow the Copper-first order here and put the other order, from the November 5 upgrade guide, in its own section.
- Open Daily Rewards and take Day 1 before you sell anything. AllThingsHow says that reward is one hour of 2x money.
- Go to Room 1 with the Stone Pickaxe. The pocket starts at two slots. Mine two Common rocks and stop. A third rock does not fit.
- Press Home (Q) to reach your own plot. AllThingsHow quotes the warning on someone else’s plot: “This isn’t your base, find your own!”
- Place a rock with E and cut it. Common rocks take 5 seconds. Collect the material. A cutter that still says ready to collect will not start the next rock.
- Sell at the hub stall. Under the 2x boost, AllThingsHow’s prices become Seashell 1,380, Copper 840, and Rust Gear 1,060.
- At 3,000 cash, buy the Copper Pickaxe at the pickaxe stall. Then hunt Uncommon rocks. They take 30 seconds and can cut into Petalstone.
Numbers I will print, and who said them
Room 1’s entrance sign, as copied by AllThingsHow, reads Common 85 percent, Uncommon 15 percent, Nova Prism 0.1 percent. That sign is one source. I am not treating it as a drop table for later rooms.
Base sale prices in that same guide: Seashell 690, Copper 420, Rust Gear 530, Old Button “1.2K with one Copper”, Petalstone 2.86K. The Old Button line is not a clean unit price, so I refuse to split it into 1,200 plus a Copper. Petalstone’s 2x figure is shown as 5.73K on the page, while multiplying the printed base by two gives 5,720. The source does not explain the difference.
| Item | Figure | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Stone Pickaxe | 20x, equipped | 2 sources |
| Copper Pickaxe | 3,000 cash, 150x; or 70 Robux | 2 publishers for cash/power; 1 for Robux |
| 2 slots at the start | 1 source | |
| Common cut | 5 seconds | 1 source |
| Uncommon cut | 30 seconds | 1 source |
| Server size | 6 players | Official game record |
The other opening order
AllThingsHow’s November 5 upgrade guide spends the first 2,500 cash on Rock Cutter level 2, which it says drops an Uncommon cut from 30 seconds to 6 and a Common cut to 1 second. It then buys Eyesight, Pocket, and an Iron Pickaxe priced at 12,000. Sportskeeda prices that same Iron Pickaxe at 25,000. I will not average 12 and 25. Both numbers stay on the pickaxe page.
Day rewards after the first hour, still one source: day 2 gives three random limited rocks, then 2x Power, a free next pickaxe, two +3 rewards, and on day 7 five limited rocks chosen from Nova Prism, Genesis Monolith, Royal Relic, and Sun Scarab.

Questions
What should I buy first?
The November 4 guide buys Copper at 3,000. The November 5 guide upgrades the cutter for 2,500 first. Both are printed above. I do not pick a winner.
Why did my cutter stop?
AllThingsHow says a finished material left on the machine blocks the next cut. Collect it, then queue another rock.
Is there a rebirth or a pet?
The public game description does not mention pets, enchants, rebirth, or trading. I am not building pages for systems nobody has documented.
